BCRTI POLICIES
Refund and Cancellation Policy
Effective date: 19 October 2026
The Bioinformatics Capability and Research Training Institute (BCRTI) is committed to providing high-quality bioinformatics training and fair, transparent enrolment conditions.
1. Scope
This policy applies to individual learners purchasing BCRTI self-paced micro-credentials directly from BCRTI. Instructor-led training, group purchases and institutional arrangements may have separately agreed cancellation and refund terms, subject to applicable law.
2. Course payment and activation
Following confirmation of payment, a BCRTI administrator will activate the learner's access to the purchased course in the BCRTI Interactive Learning Space (BILS), generally within two business days.
Course activation dates are determined by BCRTI and cannot be selected, postponed or rescheduled at the learner's request.
The voluntary change-of-mind refund period begins when BCRTI activates course access, regardless of when the learner first logs in or begins studying.
3. Seven-day change-of-mind refund policy
BCRTI offers a full voluntary change-of-mind refund only when both of the following conditions are satisfied:
- The refund request is received within seven (7) calendar days (168 hours) of the recorded BILS course activation time.
- The learner has not accessed any learning content beyond Week 1.
Both conditions must be satisfied. Accessing Week 2 or later learning content immediately ends eligibility for a voluntary change-of-mind refund, even within the seven-day period.
After seven calendar days (168 hours) from course activation, eligibility for a voluntary change-of-mind refund ends, regardless of the learner's progress or whether they have logged in.
These restrictions apply only to voluntary change-of-mind refunds and do not affect statutory consumer rights under Australian Consumer Law.
4. Learning activity and refund eligibility
BCRTI may review payment records, course activation dates, learning activity and progress information in BILS when assessing eligibility for a voluntary change-of-mind refund.
Accessing Week 2 or later learning materials, exercises or assessments ends eligibility for a voluntary change-of-mind refund.
5. Course cancellation and technical difficulties
If BCRTI cancels a course before providing access, learners will receive a full refund.
Learners experiencing technical difficulties should contact BCRTI so that assistance can be provided. Where BCRTI cannot deliver the purchased training or applicable consumer guarantees are not met, learners may be entitled to a remedy, including a refund where required by law.
6. Exceptional circumstances
BCRTI may consider refund requests outside the voluntary change-of-mind conditions in exceptional circumstances. Such requests will be assessed individually. This does not limit any statutory consumer rights.
7. How to request a refund
To request a refund, please email asad.prodhan@bcrti.org with your name, course title, payment date and reason for requesting a refund.
BCRTI will review the request and communicate the outcome by email. Learners are not required to provide credit card details.
8. Refund processing and course access
Once a cancellation and refund request is approved, BCRTI will deactivate the learner's access to the relevant course in the BCRTI Interactive Learning Space (BILS) before processing the refund.
Approved refunds will be processed through the original payment provider, including Stripe where applicable, and returned to the original payment method. Refund processing times may vary depending on the payment provider and financial institution.
9. Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer rights or remedies available under applicable law.
